Yoga Class Descriptions:
AM Yoga: Awaken your spine and body gently; set your positive intention for the day, and then move on to more of a "flow yoga practice". Through integrative breathing and movement this early morning practice is meant to invigorate and energize you for the rest of your day.
Intermediate Yoga: A hatha flow yoga practice that focuses on opening and releasing tensions from the body (especially hips, shoulders and back). Anyone who is practicing regularly or who has completed an Intro to Yoga Class will be comfortable in this class.
Introduction to Yoga: Come to this class with a "beginner's mind". We will focus on centering and calming our minds, breath work, and learning the basic postures (poses or asanas) of yoga. This is a great way to learn the flow of yoga, such as Sun Salutations, and to develop your practice.
Strength Training: A 30 minute class to help maintain strong bones and muscles, increase balance, and enhance your core strength. This is a great time to integrate these benefits either before or after your Yoga practice.
Gentle Yoga: This class is especially for those who want to build strength and flexibility - slowly and gently. We encourage "listening" to your body in all Yoga classes, but extra modifications will be shown to enhance a positive experience and to enjoy all of the benefits of YOGA.
Pose Class: A 15 minute class to review poses and alignments. Bring your questions to this class.
PM Yoga: An eclectic energy balancing practice. Tune into your body, mind and spirit utilizing breath work, movement sequences, meditation and aromatherapy.
MoTown Yoga on Friday Night: Not your average yoga class. A great way to end your week, Deb keeps you motivated and energized by the music and the movements.
Sun Salutations: A continuous flow of sun salutations with the emphasis on breathing and movement is involved in this practice - twice monthly. Awareness on your own energy level and resting in "child's pose" when appropriate is encouraged.
Angie's Stability Ball Practice: A core strengthening class using the stability ball. Angie makes this class fun, fast-paced and safe. Be amazed by how many movements you can do and feel stronger.
After School Yoga: Classes for elementary or secondary students.
Mommy and Me Yoga: Especially for preschool students and moms (and/or dads). This class includes a healthy snack.
There is a weekly Introduction to Yoga Class offered at the Center for anyone interested in experiencing the healing aspects of yoga, on Tuesdays. Class time is 6:30-7:30 PM. Cost is $30. Price includes 3 other Yoga classes to be used in the next 30 days. Call 715-1892 or 849-2620 to register for the class. Payment and information sheet must be received prior to class. Please call to confirm class.
Maryellen's Dinner after yoga Thursday nights $8
Day Spas available for 5 or more friends, business associates and/or family members with chair massage, yoga, an organic luncheon, herbal hand, face, or foot care as options ($100 per person). Call for details 814-715-1181.
