Quiet Creek Herb Farm & School of Country Living

Our Roots

Picture
Quiet Creek is a 30-acre organic farm located in Brookville, Pennsylvania.  The land was purchased by Rusty and Claire Orner in 1996.  Quiet Creek has been operating as a sustainable farm since 1996, and has been a non-profit since 2003.

We raise vegetables, fruits, herbs, edible and cut flowers.  Much of the produce is used to make organic (non-certified) products such as herbal teas, soaps, dried produce, and vinegars.  Only sustainable techniques are used when fertilizing the plants, controlling weeds, and managing insects, bacteria, and fungi.

Quiet Creek’s year-round classes cover sustainable topics such as integrated pest management, vermicomposting, creating raised beds, soil food web, herbal soap making, bread making, shiitake inoculation and many more!

Apprenticeships, Volunteering and Community Service opportunities are also available for students who possess a passion for sustainable living.
