Chestnuts- The Backyard Bread Tree: October 18, 2025
Saturday October 18th, 2025 1 - 5pm
The class will cover everything one needs to know for growing and working with chestnuts. From backyard, to food plot, to farm business; these trees serve so many functions and reliably produce crops in our climate. Students will learn to identify different kinds of chestnuts, how to harvest them efficiently, prepare them for the kitchen table, and how to grow them yourself. Takeaways for the class include a growing guide and chestnut seeds.
Class is rain or shine. Please dress for the weather.
Instructor: Tim Zug
Tim is an apprentice at Quiet Creek, as well as, a sub contractor on a climate smart commodities grant, removing invasive species, and planning an agroforestry system for Quiet Creek. He has been working in organic agriculture for 6 years and is an agroforestry technician offering consultation, tree planting, and maintenance services.
Children (16 and under) accompanied by a paying adult are welcome at half price; call/email to register children for this discounted price.
