Plant Propagation Here is the bargain class of the year! Class includes tons of plants (medicinal and culinary herbs,
ornamental flowers and more!) that you will go home with while obtaining the knowledge of how to propagate plants from seeds, cuttings, root layerings, and bulbs. Class Fee: $105.
Grafting Apple Trees. Multiply your existing orchard by grafting new varieties! Learn methods including tongue & whip, as well as cleft grafting. Students take home knowledge and scion woods. Bring to class: leather gloves, sharp knife, pruners, and scion wood to share. This class is given in early-mid spring before the apple trees bud. $30
Essential Oils/Hand Sanitizer Class: Come discover the healing properties of 25 essential oils. This hands-on class will immerse you with the understanding of how these oils are distilled, how they are used, how they heal, and how they are applied. You will go home with new knowledge and a massage oil that you blend specific to your needs. The class offers handouts, herbal refreshments, essential oil materials, and a relaxing time and the Fee is $50 (free in May)
Herbal Soap Making Soft, smooth and natural—Rusty will show you how to make soap from scratch. Learn how to mold, cut, scent and color soap. Take home 1bar and Rusty’s soap book all for $50 which includes refreshments. (free in June)
Shiitake Mushroom Cultivation Intensive Homesteaders are always looking for products that will help diversify their offerings, increase their profitability, and expand their seasons. Cultivated mushrooms offer an excellent economic opportunity that can complement the production season on many farms. Discover the key concepts of growing, harvesting, preserving, cooking, and medicating with Shiitake, Oyster, Nameko, Wine cap, Lion's mane, Comb tooth and Maitake mushrooms at this full-day intensive class with several experts in mushroom production.$125 includes logs, luncheon and more!
Spring Fest
Herb, flower and perennial plants, all-natural soaps, teas, salves, vinegars, essential oils, and gardening books will be offered. Special activities will be garden and hi tunnel tours, pampering seminars, children games and jam session. There will also be an herbal luncheon available for purchase ($15). You are welcome to pack a lunch, too. There is no admission fee to the public. Come one and all.
Wild Edible and Medicinal Plants & Mushrooms
Trample through the woods and meadows of Quiet Creek identifying and harvesting nutritious and appetizing wild herbs. When you return, sit down and enjoy a delicious meal with the healthful ingredients. Bring hiking shoes and wear rain/shine clothing. Class Fee = $85
Contra Dance
Kick up your heals and enjoy an old-fashion contra dance. For all ages, no prior contra dancing necessary (lessons given throughout the evening). Free, although please donate for caller, if possible.
Bread Making (Sprouted Grains & Sourdough)
Don't miss attending the Whole Grain Bread Making and Herbal Butter Making Class.
Learn the secrets of adding nutritional bread into your family's diet. You will go home with recipes, knowledge, bread, and
butter. Come and enjoy! Class Fee:
$50
Fall Fest
Learn how to bring in the fall harvest. There will also be special activities related to the children plus herb, flower and perennial plants, all-natural soaps, teas, salves, vinegars, essential oils and gardening books. There will also be an herbal luncheon available for purchase ($15). You are welcome to pack a lunch, too. Free to the public.
Gingerbread Holiday Open House Quiet Creek and other local artisans will feature holiday gift items ready just for you. Stop by to pick up a map. A whole foods luncheon will be available on Saturday ($15) to help you relax during your hectic holiday shopping schedule. Always the first full weekend in November. Quiet Creek will be available the Friday and Saturday (we are closed on Sundays, but do enjoy the rest of the Gingerbread Tour).
Holiday Wreath Making Quiet Creek will be hosting Holiday Wreath classes. The class fee is $75 and you will go home with a creation to decorate your home with fresh evergreen aroma and beauty. Herbal refreshments are included.
Volunteering Service Project Opportunities: learn how to prune trees, raspberries, blueberries, harvest organic produce, earthen building, mushroom cultivation and more available year-round at Quiet Creek. Please email interests and dates/times: [email protected]
