Anneliese Tatham (September 2016 - May 2017)
I graduated high school last spring and decided to take a gap year before setting off to college; a year to learn, travel and explore the things I am passionate about. I am originally from St Paul, MN where I grew up playing in the woods, swimming in almost all of our 10,000 lakes and putting the miles on my skis in the winter. An amazing semester at Conserve School spurred my love and curiosity for the outdoors even more and I knew I wanted to further explore the realm of sustainability, small-scale agriculture and healthy living. (At first glance it may appear to be small-scale but after drying, canning, freezing and of course eating a seemingly endless harvest last fall, planting and transplanting hundreds of seedlings and inoculating almost that many shiitake logs this past spring, the term certainly doesn’t do Quiet Creek justice.) Eight months in beautiful Pennsylvania with amazing teachers, mentors, peers and a puppy created a truly unforgettable experience. It opened up a whole new world of possibilities and opportunities and left me with memories I will never forget from a place very close to my heart.

Sam Berst & Jeff Glenn (March 2013 - September 2013)
We are two people seeking to enhance our connection to the natural world and share knowledge of sustainable living and healing foods. Growing, fermenting, canning, and most of all eating the vibrant foods that grow from healthy soil and loving hands are our favorite things here at Quiet Creek. We are all always observing, growing, changing, adapting, and smiling

Jennifer Takacs - (May 2011 - August 2011)
I visited Quiet Creek in the summer of 2010. I was drawn to the life of sustainability and organic gardening and wanted to learn as much as I could. I vowed to one day return.
In 2011, as a graduate student studying Journalism & Mass Communication at Point Park University, I was able to merge my studies with completing an internship at Quiet Creek.
As a PR/Marketing intern, my role on the farm consisted of photographing events, workshops and seminars; being the go-to person for major/minor media outlets; managing social media and re-designing the website. In addition, I also produced a strategic communications plan and promotional press kit for the farm.
Interning at Quiet Creek changed my life. I was introduced to farm life, to bats, to wild foraging and a new diet and way of life that inspired me to think before I acted. To reuse and recycle.
The bonds I have made while interning here will always stay with me. I highly encourage anyone who has an interest (or curiosity!) about this way of life to come visit, stay as long as you can, and complete an internship!

Robbie & Jessi Orth - (January 2011 thru July 2012)
We are two people saved by God's grace and inspired by His creation. We believe in the healing power of good community, movement, nature, music, good food, growing, learning, animals, mushrooms..and the list flows on. All those things are knitted together by our belief in the healing power of Jesus. We feel blessed to have apprenticed at Quiet Creek under the mentorship of Rusty and Claire. We came to Quiet Creek with the intent to stay 1 year and we were given the opportunity to steward the farm for a portion of 2012. We are constantly learning things that influence and change our lives.
Jessi: One of my personal favorites on the farm is the sawdust composting toilet. Yes, there are prettier jobs on the farm than cleaning out the humanure buckets but to go from the "flush it away, let someone else deal with it" mentality to bringing an often overlooked aspect of life into the cycle of sustainability is a major victory!
Robbie: I think I would dedicate most of the year's smiling to harvesting the best food of my life, from beets in the Hi-tunnel to mushrooms from a nearby forest floor, to homemade sourdough bread. The past year was filled with knowledge on growing it, fermenting it, digging it, or learning how to find it (my favorite!!!!)

Michael Dectis - (September 2011)
Through research, I was able to find Quiet Creek Herb Farm and learned about the many great opportunities they offer. I am a Senior at Clarion University studying Strategic Communication and Leadership.
I am blessed to have an internship in marketing and advertising. I completed many tasks around the farm and set up the website. I learned many great things at Quiet Creek and will continue to share the experiences for interning for a non - profit organization. Thank you.
